Watch Thomas Chapman's Video.
Dr. Chapman received undergraduate degrees at Snow College and Brigham Young
University, a master's degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and
a doctorate from the University of Wyoming. For six years, he worked at
Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah writing screenplays for
educational films. Throughout his career in religious education, Dr.
Chapman has taught students from high school to retirement ages in Las
Vegas, Nevada, then later in Orem, Utah, and most recently as director of
the Latter-day Saint Institute of Religion in Santa Barbara, California.
As director of the Boston Institute of Religion, Dr. Chapman coordinates
religious education for young adults throughout the Boston area, including
Harvard University students. The Boston Institute of Religion provides free
college-level religion courses to complement the secular academic
experience. Dr. Chapman loves working with his students to deepen their
understanding of religious history and doctrine. As a teacher, he feels
that the application of knowledge to the student's heart and lifestyle is
the greatest success.
Dr. Chapman's religious service has included serving as a bishop and as a
branch president at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. He
currently is the volunteer director of Sunday School in his congregation in
Belmont. Dr. Chapman is happily married to his college sweetheart and has
two adult children.
Young adults of all faiths are welcome to take a class with Dr. Chapman to
explore how the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of His latter-day
prophets can bring greater peace and happiness to life.
